Notification

Notified discretionary marine consent applications will be publicly notified 101  and any person may make a submission to the EPA 102  within 20 working days of public notification 103

Non-notified discretionary marine consent applications will not be publicly notified. However, a copy of the application must be provided to iwi authorities, customary marine title groups and protected customary rights groups that the EPA considers may be affected by the application. The EPA may also serve a copy of the application on:

  • Ministers with responsibilities that may be affected by the activity for which consent is sought,
  • Maritime New Zealand,
  • persons with existing interests that may be affected by the application, and
  • regional councils whose regions may be affected by the application. 104
