What is the effect of an enforcement order?

A failure to comply with an enforcement order is an offence. ^{5b657bcd-2824-4dc1-bb2a-3f5dfb76ada6}  A person committing this offence is subject to up to two years imprisonment or a fine up to $300,000. ^{c8bdd1aa-797c-416d-9578-c8430a331c63}  Other entities may be subject to a fine up to $600,000. In addition, the Environment Court can authorise any person to comply with the order, on behalf of the person who has failed to comply, and recover costs against that person.
