Identifying what resource consents are required
The first step in applying for a resource consent is to identify what types of consents you require for your proposal and what type of activity status your proposal will have. This is determined by the applicable district and/or regional plan(s). If you are not familiar with the relevant plan(s), you may wish to seek advice from resource consent officers of the relevant local authority. These officers will be able to assist you in identifying the type of resource consent, if any, required under the plan(s), as well as direct you to other relevant authorities, such as the Department of Conservation which may also require consents.
